Latest broadcast from Grady Runyan’s (Monoshock/Liquorball et al) avant-garage guitar jammers takes off on the kind of accelerated trajectory of The MC5 circa “Starship” in its marriage of cosmo-liturgical free jazz ala Sun Ra/Archie Shepp et al and extended psychedelic rock. Their previous self-titled album had a damaged Cleveland underground appeal that was more overtly focussed on scorch but here the group –working from a straightforward guitar/bass/drums line-up with additional synth and viola – are mainlining the jam while dissolving riffs into weird textural rips and sustaining almost side-long voyages into acid-damaged Dead/Hawkwind style instrumentalism.
