Keiji Haino, this is an up-close three camera pro filmed document of a searing Keiji Haino guitar/vox/electronics performance that took place on May 1st 2008 in Tokyo. Dora Video plays drums while Haino duets with himself courtesy of a back projection of previous and current performances. Haino is on incendiary form, launching himself fully into the guitar in the kind of immolating style of his early solo sides while the up-close camera style matches the official Fushitsusha DVD on PSF for physical drama. There are vocal loops, levitating passages of electronics and some of Haino’s most rock-anchored riffs in an age, while Dora plays it almost four-four throughout, to Haino’s obvious delight. |

Let’s Go By Micro Macaroni Records MCRN-009 CD £10.99 Brand new album from these Kansai-area reprobates, a high energy power/punk trio-now-quartet that feature a frontman equally possessed by peanut butter-era Iggy Pop and Soundtracks-era Damo Suzuki and a guitar/drums set-up that is as brain-scramblingly fleet as The Magic Band and as crude as Harry Pussy. Live these guys combine explosions of snot and vomit with sobbing, misanthropic rants, dedications to The Beatles and Keiji Haino and some of the most disobedient group interaction since The Germs. This latest Japan-only studio album features a bunch of classic live staples and re-jigged earlier recordings. Alongside Afrirampo, Oshiri Penpenz have pretty much exploded the west Japan underground scene. Highly recommended. |
