Solo work from guitarist/electronic composer Jeff Gburek here working the post-Fahey strain with an approach that straddles ragtime, American Primitive and extended avant technique while crossing between acoustic and electric slide guitar. He’s joined on one track by Japanese guitarist Tetuzi Akiyama where the pair trade luminous single notes and slow motion textures. Comes in a fold-out sleeve.

Solo work from instrument inventor, string thinker and collagist Robert Horton: here Horton plays acoustic and electric ‘boot’ (his own stringed invention) alongside cassettes, digi recorders and computer. Horton’s music has a tangential relationship to blues and American inventor traditions and his percussive slide work and wonked string/tape constructs come over as inhabiting a liminal zone somewhere between Moondog, Tom Carter, Harry Partch and the post-Tsugaru string work of Chie Mukai.
