Each copy comes with an original fold-out piece of art from Christina as well as signed tracing paper sleeves, art paper insert and hand-written track listing. Every copy is unique. This is a very intimate recording, with a high-wire emotional aspect and an isolated deep-space feel that parallels Jandek’s harrowing Put My Dream On This Planet CD. All guitar and vocals with overdubs, recorded at home, the lyrics are some of Christina’s most complex psychodramas, with a more wordy approach that forces her into some of her oddest and most inventive phrasing. Her voice is pushed way up front, like she’s singing into a microphone from under the covers at night, while in the background overdubbed single-note angel vox float by on clouds of echo. The lyrics seem to revolve around portraits of people in her life, all rendered with odd, hypnotic detail and the guitar is some of her most extended and barren, clanging out of deep silence and revolving around obsessive melodic fragments. One of Christina’s most bewitching and atmospheric broadcasts, and up there with Masque Femine as one of her most ambitious side. No one else comes close. Highly recommended.
